Common Jezebel
The Delias butterflies are known as Jezebels. There are about 225 species. Most of them
are gaudily patterned in red, yellow, black, and white. The colours serve to
advertise to their upalateable nature to would-be predators. Most are in the
islands in southeast Asia or the mountain ranges in New Guinea. Some live in
broader ecological niches.
